*PRICE DROP on this historic chronograph! This is one you don’t see everyday, though we should - Angelus is one of those “people who know KNOW” brands, a legend in the world of chronographs going back to the golden age. They began making in house movements in the 1930s, WAY head of their time. Known for being accurate and robust, the Egyptian Navy, the Hungarian Air Force, and Panerai, amongst others, turned to Angelus. This oversized chronograph with an incredible black gilt dial is right in the company’s mid century sweet spot, app late 1940s. If you’re into chronographs, horological history, or just wanna stand out of the crowd, this is a cool one to rock! DATE: app late 1940s - early 1950s DIAL: Goegeous original black dial with gilt writing. The Angelus typography has always been one of my favorites, so very cool to see it here popping in gold! Of course there’s wear throughout (hope I look half this good as I approach 80!) including light marks and lume degradation, but all in a fantastic original example. CRYSTAL: High domed vintage plexi crystal is in good shape with wear throughout. CASE: At 38MM x 47MM the stainless steel case wears beautifully, perfect for someone who appreciates vintage but is used to wearing modern - has a lot of wrist presence. Case appears unpolished with great original lines including those classic angled lugs. Of course it has wear throughout but just a great example. MOVEMENT: Classic hand wound chronograph is working beautifully. Super crisp winding and that great loud vintage beat! Previous owner believes the shop it was purchased from serviced it, but since I don’t have record of that I will say service history unknown, although working perfectly, with chronograph snapping back as it should and timegrapher numbers are incredible for the age of the watch at 19 seconds a day with a very healthy amplitude of 344. STRAP: Comes on a distressed brown leather strap that perfectly matches the dial color and overall vintage appeal. ACCESSORIES: Watch on strap only.
