FS: Movado Rare 1950 Stepped Bezel | François Borgel Case I Automatic

Borgel, a name whispered with reverence in horological circles, was born in 1856 and left an indelible mark on watchmaking history. His 1891 patent for the screw-down "impermeable" case revolutionized timekeeping, especially during World War I, when soldiers needed reliability in the chaos of battle.

The story doesn’t end with François. After his passing, the operation was taken over by Taubert & Fils in 1924, a family that carried his torch with pride. Their cases adorned the finest watches produced from Patek Philippe to Vacheron Constantin and, of course, Movado. The "FB" and key insignia hidden inside this caseback was a badge of honor, a mark of Swiss mastery.

With a stepped Borgel case, perfectly proportioned alpha hands, and period correct bracelet, this 1950s Ref embodies everything collectors adore about vintage Movado.
