**Orient Star Royal WZ0031FB World Timer** An elegant sport watch from Orient Star, this is the highest grade Royal model with World Timer complication. Made in the early 2000’s these retailed for 189,000 yen 20 years ago and are quite rare now in Japan and out, especially in this condition. Build quality and details on these is a step above, the machining of the case, quality of polish, bracelet design, dial layout, everything has a reassuring heavy metallic quality, you feel it the moment you pick it up. The Black guilloche dial comes alive under all types of lighting conditions, the hands/indices are zaratsu polished to perfection and the diamond shaped screw down crown is unique to the world timer models, larger than most and feels great to use. Almost the entire case is fully polished, and to a very high standard, while the top face of the case where the bezel fits is brushed, a favourite Orient case shape of mine, almost has an integrated steel sport watch feel to it with the ‘ears’ on each side. The movement is the 46T50, a variant that is finished and regulated to a higher standard than its contemporaries at +10 second \~-5 second per day. Great shape overall, used but cared for; Case: Polished surfaces are in great condition, has collected some slight fuzzy scratches here and there as expected from an older piece. The whole thing present extremely well. Crystal/Dial/Hands: are great, the sapphire is clear and almost invisible with the quality AR coating Orient is known for. Bracelet: Great with only a few scuffs here and there as can be seen. Still running strong after 20+ years, I haven't timed it on a timegrapher, its on the faster side, I'd estimate an acceptable +10 sec. Case: 41mm x 48mm x 13mm Lugs: 20mm Crystal: Sapphire, double AR coated Movement: hacking/non-handwing. Bracelet: sized for my 8” wrist (see photo for measurements).
