[WTS] One-of-a-kind timepiece by Lothar w handmade case
Edit: price is $399, not $499. Yet another gorgeous timepiece created by my friend Lothar. He is an older German guy with incredible watchmaking skills, but zero internet skills. So far, I have had the privilege of being the only person to offer his works for sale online. I have sold dozens of his pieces right here on r/watchexchange and I will provide several examples of his other works in the comments. This is a beautiful and very cool one-of-a-kind timepiece! A Swiss 1890's movement re-housed in a completely unique custom case, handmade by Lothar himself to fit this movement. Pics: https://imgur.com/a/h3NBEKZ Timestamp: https://imgur.com/a/HOMNUAw The original watch case was 18k gold, and someone melted it down at some point in the watches history. Thankfully the movement has found a new home inside this custom hand-turned all-stainless steel case. The inner part of the movement is able to rotate within the outer ring, allowing easy access to the crown and pin. It's very fun to hold this one in the hand and play around with it! A perfect item to fidget with at your desk. The outer ring of the case measures 60mm in diameter, while the inner part of the case measures approximately 47mm. I found one example of this watch in its original gold case: https://www.tsc.ca/18KT-Yellow-Gold-Association-Ouvriere-LOCLE-Open-Face-Pocket-Watch/pages/productdetails?nav=R:701845 So that's what the original watch would have looked like. Note that this particular watch sold for $4995 USD, which is way higher than the gold melt value of the case, which would be somewhere in the $2k-$3k range. Powered by a high-grade movement from the 1890's, made in Locle, Switzerland. The movement and dial are both marked "Association Ouvriere" . Movement is solid nickel. This movement is running extremely smoothly and is strikingly accurate for its age. I've had the watch running for a few days now, and I haven't had to reset the time at all. It's just amazing to see a ~130 year old machine that's still running so smoothly! This is a "pin -set" movement, so you change time by turning the crown while the pin is pushed in. Very easy and comfortable to use. Beautifully printed porcelain dial with no cracks or damage. What a beautiful and fun piece! It's one-of-a-kind, so grab it while you can! Asking $399 USD OBO including shipping within North America. Great international shipping rates available too. The watch will be shipped from Toronto, Canada.
