Patina lovers unite! From my personal collection, a piece I didn’t think I would ever part with but hey, even dealers aren’t immune to lusting after another piece and needing to justify! I think this is one of the coolest dials I’ve come across, started life as a blue sigma dial and time turned into a one-of-a-kind piece of wrist art, what I’ve nicknamed van Gogh since it looks like Starry Night! The Rolex 1501 one also comes with my personal favorite, now discontinued, engine turned bezel bringing some industrial vibes to the table. All in you won’t see another one like it (and I will miss it dearly!) REF: 1501 YEAR: 1972 DIAL: Patina isn’t for everyone, beauty is in the eye to beholder, etc etc but to me this is the star of the show! Not only is it a sigma dial, but it’s turned into this beautiful swirl of blue and black and gold. As you can see in the macro shots, there’s just has so much depth to the dial. Lume pot plots are still all present, and all lights up under UV, original tritium on the hand as well. The white printing has managed to stay clean and crisp, really pops against the patina, also love the original open six and nine date wheel. CASE: 34MM stainless case (actually measures 34.5 MM) and especially with the bezel wears very similar to a 36MM Datejust. Case has light wear throughout, previously polished, presents really well for its age, just looks great on the wrist. MOVEMENT: Being from 1972 Rolex had just introduced hacking seconds found here, automatic movement winding and setting beautifully with timegrapher showing near perfect numbers at just 1 second per day! BRACELET: Comes on a slightly newer and upgraded solid link Rolex oyster bracelet with signs of previous polishing - looks fantastic and will currently fit up to approximately 7 inches, with one extra link included.
