Original patinated dial with a subtle two-tone effect featuring applied Arabic numerals and multi-faceted pointed tip figures with applied Omega symbol, all in 18K rose gold as are the original dauphin hands. The original signed low dome crystal is free of cracks or flaws.

18K SOLID ROSE gold case with classic fat lugs, fitted with a NOS vintage signed rose gold crown (slightly different tone), the SEAMASTER and WATERPROOF markings on the back are still clearly visible. Based on the condition of the back I don't believe the case has been polished, but the lugs have softened from honest use. There is also some wear to the inside the lugs (from a bracelet?). Not a show piece but a very wearable classic solid gold Seamaster.

Bright clean 20-jewel caliber 501 rotor wind automatic movement, winds and sets smoothly, running well and is keeping good time. Serial number dates this one to ca 1957. Service history unknown.

Size: 34.4-mm excluding the signed crown x 42-mm, with 18mm lugs.

Comes on a beautiful lightly used vintage BRAZILIAN LIZARD strap (yellow buckle).

Founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by 23-year-old Louis Brandt who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He travelled throughout Europe selling his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. After Louis Brandt's death in 1879, his two sons Louis-Paul and Cesar, troubled by irregular deliveries of questionable quality, abandoned the unsatisfactory assembly workshop system in favour of in-house manufacturing and total production control. Due to the greater supply of manpower, communications and energy in Bienne, the enterprise moved into a small factory in January 1880, then bought the entire building in December. Two years later the company moved into a converted spinning-factory in the Gurzelen district of Bienne, where headquarters are still situated today. Their first series-produced calibres, Labrador and Gurzelen, as well as, the famous Omega calibre of 1894, would ensure the brand's marketing success.
