The watch is made of stainless steel, the dial color changes from dark blue to bright rich black. This dial was released in 2014 for a special commemorative edition in honor of the Deepsea Challenge expedition, supported by Rolex and the National Geographic Society. During this expedition, film director and explorer James Cameron reached the deepest point of the World Ocean - the bottom of the Mariana Trench, which is 10,908 meters deep. The new version of the Oyster Perpetual Rolex Deepsea is made in a case with a diameter of 44 mm. The arms and sides of the watch are made in accordance with the new design. The model’s bracelet has become wider, and therefore the size of the clasp has changed. For the first time, this diver's watch is equipped with caliber 3235, which represents the basis of advanced technology in watchmaking. The black ceramic hour bezel is unidirectional rotating and has a graduated 60-minute scale. This bezel allows for the most precise control of dive and decompression times to ensure safety. Rolex made the disc from super-hard ceramic. It has excellent corrosion resistance, does not fade in the sun and is scratch resistant. Its numbers and markings are formed by casting and coated with a thin layer of platinum using PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) technology.
