[WTS] Seiko Brightz SAGJ003. Full Titanium HAQ Chronograph. Discontinued in early 2000s
A super lightweight titanium High Accuracy Quartz from Seiko’s now iconic early 2000s Brightz collection. Click here to see a [video of the watch in action.](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5YGFoEqWgE/) **Model**: SAGJ003 Seiko Brightz **Year**: October 2002 **Features**: * *HAQ*. In the original 2000s marketing for these High Accuracy Quartz, Seiko got mildly philosophical; as you look into the night sky and see light particles from a star 100 light years away, you’re seeing light particles that left the star before you were even born. The writer calls this the “romance in errors”; the difference between how the star looks to you now, and how the star actually is in reality (100 years in the “future” as far as your eyes are concerned). The writer invites you to set your watch to 0:00:00 at the stroke of Midnight on New Year’s Eve, and then wait a year. At 0:00:00 the following year this watch will have lost or gained a maximum of 20 seconds. The writer asks; what beauty can you find in these 20 seconds throughout the year? * *High-End*. On release, this full titanium HAQ cost ¥126,000 (equivalent to $1200 in 2004) and was part of Seiko’s high-end catalogue. Much like the 4S29 movement inside the Brightz SAGN005, or the 4S27 movement inside the Brightz SAGN007, the 7J21 movement inside this watch was at the top of Seiko’s class at the time of its release. In fact, other than the legendary 9F Grand Seiko HAQ (±10 seconds per year), the 7J21 is still one of the most reliable quartz movements made by Seiko (±20 seconds per year). * *JDM*. Released in the early 2000s, and only in Japan, this watch was hard to track down at the time and even harder to find in good condition now. Often seen as a bit of “grail” series by modern collectors, and a precursor to the ambition of Grand Seiko’s high movement specs and high spec finishing. * *Titanium Bracelet*. The original bracelet – sized up to 7.7 inches (19.5cm). **Condition**: In very good condition overall. There is a mark on the crystal near the two o’clock indices, but it won’t be visible in every photo. It feels like a small loss of the anti-reflective coating, rather than damage to the actual sapphire crystal. The case and bracelet are in good shape but do have wear/abrasions, but no damage is significant. The case back has mild wear from the bracelet scratching it. The photos represent the condition well. **Scope**: No original box or papers. Shipped in a Provenance Watches leather case. **Movement**: 7J21 HAQ. Five years of battery life, according to Seiko’s specs. **Case Width**: 39mm **Case Thickness**: 11.5mm **Lug width:** 20mm **Bracelet length:** 195mm (fits wrist up to 7.7”) **Price**: Offered at **$1050** plus shipping (sent from London, UK; costs $5-$55 depending on where you are in the world). I accept Wise, Paypal, Credit/Debit Cards and Bank Transfer, depending on your transaction history. **Of note**: Nothing to report [Album](https://imgur.com/a/g3400t6) [Proof](https://imgur.com/a/EI9LoQi)
