# SBGA347 Video: [https://imgur.com/a/hTAgpS6](https://imgur.com/a/hTAgpS6) Up for sale is a super underrated and discontinued Grand Seiko reference SBGA347, full titanium case and bracelet with teak-style dial that alternates a brushed sunburst finish with matte silvery white strips. This dial is absolutely stunning in person, and the slightly angled lugs with flat edges really distinguish this from very well known references like the SBGA211 Snowflake. This is driven by the 9R65 Spring Drive movement, which gives the seconds hand that virtually perfect smooth sweep along with a 72 hour power reserve. Crown is screwdown and this features a lumed dial and hands, something not often seen on Grand Seikos. The case measures 40mm wide and 12.9mm thick, with 19mm lug width. This example is in very good condition and comes with the original box and papers, manuals, Grand Seiko 2021 service paper, and bracelet measuring up to 8" with all the included links. I just received a Rolex Explorer II from Matt, very smooth deal. The watch is better than advertised. I'd have no problem buying from him again. My only complaint, it was a tossup between my sawzall and the Jaws of Life to get the package opened, very securely packaged!!

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
