Hello everyone,
another night, another offer. As mentioned yesterday, I need to part with a few pieces for personal reasons. Here's another one of my beloved 2577s up for grabs. It's another one I am yet to see a second example of.
The 2577 – Where It All Began
For those of you who aren’t familiar, the ref. 2577 was the first ever Seamaster reference, released in 1948 (allegedly). It was a time in which Omega seemed keen to experiment, most notably with the dial layouts. I mentioned yesterday how the positioning of the "Seamaster" name changed during the years of production. This example is special in a different way: It was gifted four arrowhead markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9, those that have become the most sought after index on Constellations of the period. To add another little detail, note the minute ticks. Some of us have coined this jokingly a "T T T" dial, as instead of the more usual ticks, Omega has given this one a T for every minute, with more pronounced, serifed Ts at the arrowheads. Only a few examples with this design feature are known, and in combination with the uncommon indices and a crosshair layout it makes this one stand out.
Under the hood there's one of the very first chronometer-certified cal. 354s, 13.1m serial is among the earliest examples I've seen. Not that chronometer-certified 2577s were common in general. Add a rather lovely rose-gold capped case - to my eye the most beautiful material those were made of - and a rarely seen, matching Beads of Rice bracelet and you get a combination you aren't likely to come across again.
If you want to read more about the reference, I've wrote down some details here:
The Watch
Omega Seamaster
Reference: 2577
Movement: cal. 354 "bumper" automatic, chronometer certified
Serial: 13146578
Year: ca. 1953
Case: 34.5mm, stainless steel with rose-gold cap
Dial: Original two-tone
Strap & buckle: Original 1502 Omega Beads of Rice bracelet with the correct #11 end links
Condition
Dial & Hands: The original dial is in beautiful shape. In the close-ups, you'll see some very, very small spots around the center, only visible in certain hand positions - please do note that those were taken with a 50x magnifier. Hands and indices don't show any real deterioration, the color difference of the two-tone dial is sharp and present. The lume has aged to an attractive, light brown tone. French "chronometre" spelling, as is expected from that period. All the writing is crisp, clearly legible and present. Very unusual, solid rose gold arrowhead markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9, even more unusual but correct "T T T" minute ticks and original crosshair.
Case: Original 34.5mm "beefy lug" case in stainless steel, rose-gold capped. Correct case style for the serial range, it wasn't until later that Omega changed to the thicker, bevelled lugs on those 2577s. The lugs are sharp, so is the edge of the bezel. The gold-cap is fully intact. Small scratches, dings etc. everywhere, as you'd expect after >70 years. The case back is sharp, including the original circular brushing, contrasted by a polished outter ring. Some light "idiot marks" from failed opening attempts which could be removed by rebrushing the case back - personally, I wouldn't interfere with such a condition. Do note that this is the correct case back style for this case and serial, and it never came with the "SEAMASTER" and "WATERPROOF" inscriptions that later 2577s saw. Even the back sides of the lugs show the original brushing.
Crown: Original, period-correct "clover"-style crown with the flat feet Omega logo you'd expect to see, in rose gold, matching the case. Do not loose this one, you need a lot of patience to find another one.
Crystal: Difficult one: It has the elegant, super-low profile of originals but I can't spot the etched logo. It's in good shape, with only a few minor, superficial scratches. The logo might have been polished away, I've seen that before if something scratched the inside of the plexi, but do please assume it's a generic replacement, albeit a great one.
Movement: Original cal. 354 bumper automatic, chronometer certified. The movement is in great shape, visually and mechanically. I do not have a service history, however it runs, sets and winds very smoothly.
Bracelet: Originale Omega Beads of Rice bracelet, ref. 1502 with #11 endlinks. To find those in rose gold plated is very difficult, so I was all the more happy to receive the watch on it. Length is good for a ca. 19cm wrist, if this is close for you please ask and I'll measure precisely. As usual with those bracelets, it does show a bit of wear, but it's an attractive addition to the watch nonetheless.
Box: It came to me in this box and I'm happy to include it for the next owner. Do note those are service boxes, despite what many sellers like to claim: They were not original to a particular reference. This one is one of the more uncommon versions for watches on bracelets, which is a nice touch. Condition of the box is very good.

Payment, Shipping & Returns
Payment is accepted via PayPal F&F, bank transfer, Wise or cash in person. Happy to meet you for a personal transaction, of course. Coffee’s on me.
I’m asking what I paid for it myself:
1975€ / 2190$
The watch is located in Germany. Happy to ship pretty much anywhere, cost will be roughly:
EU/UK/CH: 15€
Rest of the world: 45€
No returns, please, unless I misrepresented the watch in any way.
And now, some pictures. Let me know if you require more or a certain angle I might have missed or a video.
And, of course, some close ups:
The T T T minute ticks:
Here's the tiny marks around the center in a hand position that reveals them. You will need very good eyes to spot those on the wrist:
Whatever I try, there are always reflections on the lugs that make them look damaged or as if the gold-cap cover is open. It is not.
That special crown:
The case back with the original brushing / the contrast to the polished outter ring:
