Description: For sale is a truly unique Seiko 5606-7070 featuring an uncommon custom Ukiyo-e dial, depicting two women in traditional Japanese attire. This is a striking and unusual piece—I’ve personally never seen another example with this exact artwork. It’s a perfect blend of vintage Japanese watchmaking and classic Japanese art, making it a standout in any collection. The watch is in very good vintage condition, with an unpolished case that retains sharp edges and natural wear. The original bracelet is included, completing the period-correct look and enhancing the overall aesthetic. Mechanically, it’s powered by the Seiko Caliber 5606, a well-regarded automatic movement with quickset day and date. The watch was recently serviced and is running reliably and has a newly fitted metal rocker wheel. About Ukiyo-e Dial Seikos: The origin of these Ukiyo-e dials is a bit of a mystery. These dials started surfacing in small numbers among collectors and enthusiasts, and while not officially produced by Seiko, they are custom-modified using traditional Japanese woodblock-style prints or stamps as overlays on the dial. Each piece tends to be unique, often showcasing imagery from the Edo period art movement known as Ukiyo-e—scenes of everyday life, courtesans, landscapes, and kabuki actors. Due to their rarity and artistic nature, these watches have become something of a niche collector’s item, especially when the artwork is well preserved and complements the original Seiko design. Life’s too short to wear boring watches! Asking €310 excluding shipping or fees. I am based in Denmark 🇩🇰 Timestamp and photoalbum: https://imgur.com/a/tLlzaNN
