For sale is this vintage Seiko "Sportsmatic" 7625-8263, made in Japan in October of 1968. The "Sportsmatic" range by Seiko was Seiko's sportswatch that was built for durability, waterproof and shockproof properties but nowadays is more akin to a casual dress watch. The "Sportsmatic" shared its calibre 7625 movement with the "Seahorse" series. This example, reference number SAC82, has a beautiful layered silver champagne sunburst dial with an outer concentric design in very good condition. The multifaceted jumbo baton stick markers are very '60s in their bold design. It features a simple but sharp date window cutout for the slow-set date. The rehaut is angled and the lume on the hands and hour markers amazingly still bright, but not as long-lasting as they once were. The sleek printed Seiko logo is also one of the first models where Seiko started using the famous logo we all know today (before was a different font and had the series names more prominent or at the top). The case is well-proportioned at 36mm and retains its original finishing in good condition. The watch was designed and manufactured by the Daini factory proudly indicated by the lightning bolt symbol on the dial and case back during their fierce rivalry with the Suwa factory. ORIGINAL crystal which you won't find on most listings. The calibre 7625 automatic movement is a workhorse movement and the watch runs well with minimal time loss/gain. It was serviced within the last 5 years. Overall the watch is in great condition for its age being 63 years old. General wear is expected.
