Please read this description to be aware of what you’re buying. This is a genuine Rolex Air King watch from 1962, reference number 5500. The original Rolex automatic movement was replaced with a Swiss-designed ETA 2824 clone. [**Link to gallery of 14 images plus timestamp.**](https://imgur.com/a/S2cnYJm) Instead of having the original Rolex movement in this watch serviced, it was replaced with a brand new self-winding PT5000. This is a high-quality conversion using a billet metal adapter. The case, dial, and case back are genuine Rolex. The hands are aftermarket non-Rolex replacements. Dial has minor spotting, chips, and scratches due to age. The case engravings between the lugs have been worn down from rubbing with the strap, but are still semi-legible. This piece is considered a mens model, but its 34 millimeter case diameter is on the smaller side by modern standard. It’s slightly smaller (2mm smaller) than a mens Datejust of the same era. Even though this watch was given new life with fresh internals, it’s still 60+ years old and the case and bezel have many little nicks and dings as shown in photos. Has new gaskets throughout, but hasn’t been pressure tested. In general, I don’t recommend swimming or bathing with vintage acrylic crystal watches. The modern Rolex box that’s shown in just a prop for photos and is not included. Asking $1,399 includes free domestic (United States) shipping.
