Dear OF members,

Offering here a 1969 Omega Seamaster Chronometer, reference 168.024, housing the Cal. 564 automatic chronometer-rated movement with quickset date. This is one of Omega’s most respected calibers from the period, known for its reliability and accuracy. The watch has been freshly serviced in September 2025 and is running well.

The stainless steel case remains unpolished, preserving its original lines and brushed finishing on the flanks. It is paired with its original Omega beads-of-rice bracelet (ref. 1036) and correct 511 endlinks, complete with 22 links (5 removable) + 2 endlinks — fitting wrists up to ~8".

Condition
Dial & Hands: Original silver sunburst dial in good condition, fitted with the correct dauphine hands. Both present well with natural aging.
Case: Stainless steel case, 35mm excluding crown. Unpolished with original brushing intact and sharp profile. Wear consistent with age.
Crystal: aftermarket
Crown: Original, period-correct Omega crown.
Movement: Omega Cal. 564 chronometer, quickset date. Fully serviced September 2025: disassembled, cleaned, oiled, regulated, with gasket replacement. Timegrapher results available upon request.
Bracelet: Original Omega beads-of-rice bracelet ref. 1036 with correct 511 endlinks. Full length (22 links + 2 endlinks, 5 removable).

Founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by 23-year-old Louis Brandt who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He travelled throughout Europe selling his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. After Louis Brandt's death in 1879, his two sons Louis-Paul and Cesar, troubled by irregular deliveries of questionable quality, abandoned the unsatisfactory assembly workshop system in favour of in-house manufacturing and total production control. Due to the greater supply of manpower, communications and energy in Bienne, the enterprise moved into a small factory in January 1880, then bought the entire building in December. Two years later the company moved into a converted spinning-factory in the Gurzelen district of Bienne, where headquarters are still situated today. Their first series-produced calibres, Labrador and Gurzelen, as well as, the famous Omega calibre of 1894, would ensure the brand's marketing success.
