Even more exciting than its exclusivity, to me, is the history: The namesake of this model, Alberto Santos-Dumont, a renowned pilot at the time, requested a watch from his friend Louis Cartier that would allow him to read the time without having to remove his hands from the controls of his plane (everything available to men before this was a pocket watch). Cartier accepted the request, and from it was born the first-ever men’s wristwatch—the Cartier Santos-Dumont—in 1904. This piece is an homage to that remarkable history, and is truly incredible.
