Produced around 1959 to 1961, this model represents the golden age of mid-century Swiss watchmaking, when precision and restrained elegance defined the brand. This piece features a 34.5 mm × 43.5 mm gold-capped stainless-steel case that carries Omega’s classic tapered-lug profile. The original flat silver dial features the sought-after crosshair layout, adding subtle symmetry and depth. It is signed “Omega Automatic Chronometer” and retains crisp text with a soft, even patina. Applied baton indices with dark inlays and Dauphine hands complete the timeless 1960s aesthetic. Inside beats the Caliber 551, a chronometer-certified automatic movement known for its accuracy and smooth operation. With 24 jewels, a 19,800 vph beat rate, and approximately 50 hours of power reserve, it remains one of Omega’s finest no-date movements. This example remains in great original condition for its age, showing minor scratches here and there and no dents. The dial is clean and crisp, the crystal is clear, though you can see patina dots on the dial. It has been recently serviced and is keeping great time at +/-5s a day. The watch comes fitted on the custom leather straps with Omega buckle. Although it doesn’t come with original box and papers, a standard watch box will be provided upon purchase.
