What sets this apart from the modern monoface Reverso of today is the sapphire crystal on the flip side, making for a “display caseback”, and the robust Cal. 976 movement. This is the only time only Reverso JLC made with a sapphire crystal to display the movement, meaning you could choose to wear the movement side up if you wish, always being able to look at the fine finishing and the escapement at work. The Cal. 976 movement is more robust than your average Reverso movement, featuring a free sprung balance with timing screws and a locking stud carrier for notably high shock resistance. The 3/4 style bridge also helps add to the overall stability. It also features an independently adjusted hour hand, and a longer power reserve at 48 hours, while also beating at 28,800vph. The case comes in at 30x48.5mm, and is 10mm thick including the carriage. This example shows signs of use common for a fully polished case such as hairlines and swirls throughout. There are a few more noticeable scratches where the bezel would be in a normal watch, but it’s in very good condition overall, with perfect sapphire crystals, no scratches in any way. This piece has also been fully serviced by JLC in May of 2021, making it a very rare example for sale with noted service history. It runs perfectly, has no issues in daily use, and in my experience runs around -1 to -2 SPD, within chronometer spec. It includes a Camille Fournet (OEM strap maker for Patek) crocodile leather strap with an original JLC deployant buckle, a brown ColaReb leather strap, original serial matching outer box and inner box, and the original manual.
