• I commissioned this unique custom SMP with the idea that I would keep it, and any versions developed after it, as a small series, for the long run. I had no intention of selling it, or any of the ones I would have made, after it. At this time, I find myself in need of funds, to help launch a new business, which is the only reason why I have decided to list the watch here. I hope it goes to a good home where it will be appreciated, and kept for years to come.
• I spent a lot of time hunting down the all-original, 100% unpolished 2254.50 SMP that became the base, or foundation, for this fun little project. This example I found even had its original factory red wax dot intact, which signaled that it had never been opened, and therefore had never been refinished, in any way. The case lines were all clean and sharp, and there were no dents or dings, or even little "flea bites," to either remove or grind down, or laser fill back up. It was the perfect "donor watch."
• I asked renowned watch restoration experts LA Watch Works to tear down and refinish the case and bracelet in a fully brushed finish. The pattern and "flow" of the graining, it was decided, would be the same as seen on the recent "No Time To Die" SMP. As many of you might know, LAWW are absolute masters of the legendary lapping machine, and the results are as near as perfect as I've ever seen. The finish looks factory -- maybe even more crisp, more sharp. It's really amazing what they can do. My photos, below, really don't do the work justice.
• FWIW, the difference between a $1500+ "re-cutting" of the case, by a skilled artisan working with a lapping machine, versus a simple refinish on a polishing machine, is truly night-and-day clear. (I tried my best to capture the results below.) No expense was spared for this project. Again, it was intended to be a "forever watch," for me.
• We originally planned to use a bezel insert from a brand new 2255.80, or "Electric Blue" SMP, coated in black, with white filled recessed numerals. In the end, it was decided the ceramic black bezel insert from the early Co-Axial SMP would be a more elegant solution. Please note, the original 2254.50 crystal is a bit too thin for this ceramic insert, and it sits a tiny bit below the top surface plane. A double-AR Planet Ocean crystal, from the 2201.50, would fill this in nicely. (Many people have used the ur-PO crystal on their 2254.50s, as part of their "PlanPro" mods. They're a direct fit.) This is a very easy swap, that can be done by any good watchmaker. My plan was to have this done a few months from now, but I guess it will be up to the buyer, if and when to have it done. (LAWW is standing by to do the swap, if you decide to have it done.)
• This watch was fully serviced, this time, by LAWW. Please see their policy for service warranty; service warranty started 2/2024. I understand they also do excellent mechanical service work, in addition to the top-tier refinishing.
• My asking price is very close to, or maybe even less than, what I have invested in this project. If you're serious, and you plan to keep this watch, and you agree to give me first refusal, should you ever decide to sell it, then let's talk. Thanks.
This watch will come with the following items:
Original Omega boxes
Omega card holder
Instruction Manual
Original OEM 2254.50 Bezel Assembly
Original OEM Sword Hands and Sweep Seconds Hand
Original Click and Bezel Springs
Full OEM Bracelet with all links + half link - now with a Fully Brushed Finish
The watch now has these modifications:
Fully Brushed Case and Bracelet (sides of the links remain polished)
Brand New - Custom Painted White OEM Sword Hands (w/custom dial matching lume)
Brand New - Custom Painted Red Planet Ocean (2201.50) Sweep Seconds Hand (matches the red finish of the Nekton SMP's Sweep Seconds Hand)
Brand New - OEM Ceramic Bezel Assembly, with accompanying OEM bezel insert from the earlier Co-Axial SMP. (This came as one unit; it was a direct fit to the case.)
* All Mods can be reversed, except for the all-brushed finish. (Well, technically, it could be restored to being polished/brushed.)
* This watch is a true one-of-one. I may still have a second one built, with slightly different specs, but that would be my personal watch, and it likely would never be sold. The timing is off for me to keep this one now, or else I’d never sell it. Don’t miss out on a chance to own a very special SMP, done to the very highest of standards. Thanks.
• Please review the photos clearly, as they represent the actual condition of the watch very well.
• Please feel free to ask any questions, via PM here.
Please excuse the lint/dust seen here. It's a brand new bezel w/ OEM finish:
