Up for sale is a watch that suits almost any and every situation - the Rolex Date. A 34mm Rolex on an oyster bracelet is one of my favorite watch configurations. I think it has the perfect wrist presence and weight, and it is an excellent entry point for someone into the world of vintage Rolex. This watch is a reference number 1500. It dates to circa 1977 and comes on a 19mm 78350 bracelet with 557 endlinks. The bracelet can fit a 7"+ wrist. The bracelet has very little stretch. The watch features a silver sunburst dial with raised white gold indicies and white gold hands. The dial features the "sigma" marker on the bottom of the dial (σ T SWISS T σ), intended to indicate the use of gold on the watch. The watch features a non-quickset date wheel with open 6s and 9s. The dial and indicies are in good shape with no marking or damage that I can see. The lume on the hands has slight aging, and the case and bracelet show signs of wear. There is a mark on the side of the case next to the crown, and general signs of use, including on the inside of the bracelet. However, I think that this watch is in generally nice shape for its age, and I think the age gives this otherwise straightforward watch a nice bit of character. Note I shot the majority of the photos in direct sunlight in order to capture all of the bleshimes on the watch. The acrylic crystal has a few small marks that are minimal, but can be corrected with some $2 polywatch paste if desired.
