TIMESTAMP: [https://imgur.com/a/3BlpT8Q](https://imgur.com/a/3BlpT8Q) GALLERY: [https://imgur.com/a/33v31KL](https://imgur.com/a/33v31KL) For sale only: $5,500 shipped, CONUS  This is a rare opportunity to own a Porsche Design Orfina 7176 in like-new condition (but please read the story below). For those unaware, the Porsche Design Orfina is a legendary watch that was designed by Ferdinand Porsche in the early 70s, and was the first to feature an all-black coating. The first version was called the Chronograph 1, and it featured the Valjoux 7750 caliber, which was new and high-tech at the time. The manufacturing of those movements stopped only a few years later due to the quartz crisis, so Orfina switched to the amazing Lemania 5100, which is what is featured in the watch for sale. A legend unto itself, the Lemania 5100 is a truly amazing caliber, I recommend reading about it here: [https://wornandwound.com/chronography-4-lemania-5100/](https://wornandwound.com/chronography-4-lemania-5100/) When I purchased this watch in 2022, the dial, hands, and movement were in fantastic condition, but the case and bracelet were a wreck. Porsche Design Orfina 7176s were some of the first watches with black coatings, which looked awesome but was fragile compared to today’s PVD and DLC coatings. As such, those that made it to today are often not in good condition. This one had what looked like some black nail polish and sharpy to fill in gaps in the coating. Thankfully, I was introduced to Jack at Superior Watch, who had the original service contract for these watches and still services them today. He offers restoration in which the old coating is removed and a new coating is applied to the same spec as the original. Though some might say restoration is a sin, given that the old case and bracelet just looked like crap, I felt this was the right way to go. So, I did, as well as for a full movement overhaul of the over 40-year-old Lemania 5100 caliber within, and what I got was a watch that was NOS in appearance and stunning. I picked up the packaging separately just to complete the set. It’s not the actual packaging that came with this exact watch, but it is correct to the model and very cool in its own right. In case you can’t tell, I love this watch. I wouldn’t be selling it in a perfect world, but I need to clear out some watches because of new purchases, and despite being visually one of my favorite watches, it just doesn’t get that much wrist time. I’d like for it to be with a collector/enthusiast who will really appreciate it. The bracelet is sized for a 7” wrist, and no extra links are included. The watch is still in near-perfect condition. Please respond below before messaging, thanks!
