Vulcain is known for producing an American idol – the Cricket, which was gifted to various presidents in the mid-20th century. The watch you see here also takes advantage of Vulcain’s American heritage, as it’s called the Texan. The watch features a gorgeous 37mm barrel-shaped case with a bark finish and a matching dial. The lug-to-lug is also similar, making it a good fit for any wrist. As you can see, it’s in NOS condition, with no markings and the original buckle (I don’t know about the strap). It’s powered by the in-house MSR (Manufactures Suisses Reunies) T56 movement, a 22-jewel automatic caliber. MSR owned brands like Vulcain, Revue Thommen, and Buser. According to records, the T56 was produced starting in 1968, dating this watch to that period. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the hangtag. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like it by any watch brand. It’s a copy of the movement with a working rotor and the text “This watch is equipped with the famous Swiss high precision Exactomatic self-winding movement”. I’ve been researching this promotional hangtag for days without any luck. The Texan is already a pretty rare watch, but the addition of the hangtag brings it to a whole new level. It’s also worth noting the watch as a Portuguese import marking in the upper left lug. **Details & More** **Condition:** NOS-like, with a pristine case. The acrylic crystal has very faint scratches, but those can be easily removed. It includes the original buckle and hangtag. **Case Size:** 37 x 37 mm gold-plated bark finish case, with a thickness of approximately 10 mm. **Movement:** MSR T56 – automatic, 22 jewels, 19,800 bph, and a 50-hour power reserve.
