I am 110% sure this isn't the time or even likely the place to sell or trade these gems, but I feel it's the time to stir up my collection a bit.
I can take a ton of pics of these for anyone genuinely interested. If you're here, I presume you understand what these are. Both original Gerald Genta designed cases from the late 60s and early 70s respectively. THESE are the watches which inspired the $7500.00 Zenith Revival series. Both have the Zenith iconic "bronze" dials. To me they have a slight OD tint to them.. might just be my eye though
The Plongeur was just serviced by the legendary Jack at IW. The case case been lightly refinished... PROFESSIONALLY. all edges are very sharp and crisp. NO ROUNDED CORNERS! Dial has some very mild patina. not much. The bezel insert is PERFECT. These always look like hell. Will ship on an aftermarket Forestner bracelet. (I actually swap the bracelets back and forth between the two models. INCLUDES ORIGINAL BOX!
I price this at a very modest $4000.00 considering its rarity and condition.
EDIT- I got my eye on something... How about $3400.00 shipped!!!!
The classic Defy is really fantastic as well. I rescued this from the estate sale of the late father of my actual watchmaker... funny story. case has been cleaned up. BRAND NEW factory crystal installed. Dial is immaculate. no patina. fresh service. Circa 1971
$1500 shipped seems to be on the lower side of the market.
Trades? Well I'd really prefer to trade 2 for one because my matchbox needs the real estate but I'm willing to entertain offers on each +/- cash.
Top of my list would be a ZRC Series 2 or 3. Thats a tall order for sure.
Other things I'd like to see in my box in the future... Speedy Pro, Speedy racing and or triple date. Most Tudor pieces, Maybe an Explorer, OP or budget stainless DJ, Modern ZRC/Triton, Cartier, Heuer/Tag Heuer Chronos, Panerai 38mm Due other 40mm Pams considered...You get the idea.. 36-42mm tops in most cases. auto/HW stainless or solid gold only. Please no PVD/DLC or plating.
