The manually wound models had the reference MC4, the automatic date model had the reference PGA5, both shared the same case design. In the 1960’s, Blancpain introduced the larger 37mm Bathyscaphe, model Ref. 1121. Blancpain Bathyscaphes watches were also licensed and retailed under different brand names : Moeris, Waltham, US Divers, … Royce (a sister brand of Eska) had a similar arrangement with Blancpain as the Waltham company. Initially, Waltham sourced the cases, dials and movements from Blancpain and the final assembly and branding took place at the Waltham factory in the USA. During later years, a Waltham subsidiary in Switzerland produced Bathyscaphe watches. When Royce wanted to put on the market their first skin divers watch in the early 60s, they had no experience. To save R&D money and time necessary to come up with their own design, Royce acquired the Bathyscaphe parts from Blancpain-Rayville who had already almost 10 years of experience producing quality dive watch for the military and for the amateur divers. This watch share the exact same grey sunburst dial, case, crown, bezel as the Waltham Bathyscaphe « centennial » made by Blancpain.
