This reference strikes a very nice balance between elegance and utility—simple enough to dress up, but robust enough for daily wear. The watch is housed in a 34–34.5mm case, seen here in gold-cap over steel, giving it the warmth of gold with the durability of stainless steel beneath. The proportions are very much of the era, wearing comfortably and naturally on the wrist. The snap-on case back reflects Omega’s early waterproof construction, rated to 30 meters at the time. The dial is clean and well balanced, with applied baton hour markers and a center seconds hand. Many examples from this period are admired for their restrained layouts, and this reference is no exception—legible, calm, and quietly confident. Inside is the respected Omega Caliber 500 automatic movement, part of Omega’s first generation of full-rotor automatics.
