As a result, the Navitimer Cosmonaute became the **[first Swiss wristwatch worn in space](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/vHcAtYR7dMkvr2i8scqiZZ-1200-80.jpg)** on May 24, 1962, aboard the Aurora 7 capsule. But that's just the beginning of what makes this watch special. Unlike most Navitimers, this one has a handwound movement, meaning it's thinner than traditional (automatic) Navitimers. Not only that, but the movement is on full display through the exhibition caseback. What's more, the movement is Breitling's B12, based on the Nouvelle Lemania 1873 (found, for instance, in the Omega Speedmaster Professional), with a 24-hour modification. So, in short, this Navi: - Is much rarer than your typical Speedy Pro - Costs less than your typical Speedy Pro - And beat the Speedy Pro into space - Need i say more? ;) Friendly jabs at Omega aside, this series of Cosmonautes was a limited run of around 3,000 watches from the mid to late 90s.
