Here’s one for the lovers of less known vintage brands: A sporty 1970s ARSA (Auguste Reymond SA) Precision Vintage Chronograph, powered by the workhorse Valjoux 7734 movement. The origins of the brand which still produces appealing mechanical watches date back exactly 125 years (anniversary!) to 1898 so we are dealing here with anything but a rookie in the history of watchmaking. (E.g. Unitas was the ébauches (movement-blanks) department of Auguste Reymond SA before it was integrated into the famous Ébauches SA.)

This chronograph has a diameter of 38mm without and 41mm with the crown and a lug-to-lug distance of 43mm; in a nutshell, that’s pretty perfect vintage dimensions. The colourful dial and handset are the same as also used in the Arsa Super Sous-Marine model, yet the present case is more of a tonneau shape with faceted sides. The all stainless steel body remains unpolished and shows the well-preserved original brushing pattern on top as well as on the caseback. Overall, the case is in excellent vintage condition with only a few minor marks. The lume on dial and hands is all original Tritium and fully intact. The minute markers shine very brightly under UV light. All chronograph functions (start/stop/reset) work exactly as they should and timekeeping is within the expected vintage range.

The watch comes on what might well be its original strap (lug width 18mm) and which gives it an absolutely authentic appearance (but should probably be replaced if the new owner intends to wear it on a regular basis). Moreover, a period-correct box with Arsa branding and logo completes the beautiful overall package.

I am asking EUR 550,- for this vintage beauty, international insured shipping included.

And now for the pictures:

The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.

Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. Nevertheless, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).

Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!

Kind regards,
F.Antl
