For sale is a vintage Seiko 5 with a beautifully done application of the 1783 work "Lady holding an umbrella" by Japanese artist Torii Kiyonaga. These ukiyo-e dial watches appear to originally have come out of Japanese department stores doing custom watches in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He produces these in very low quantities, and this one was completed within the last couple of months. The effect is beautiful and striking, up close his application of the prints is very well done. The watch itself is a Seiko 6106-8690 in excellent condition, dated by serial to 1974. It comes fully overhauled with a fresh, correct crystal as well as the original bracelet which will fit up to about a 7" wrist, and features an English and Kanji day wheel. All movement functions (including the funky 6106 day/date change mechanism) are fully operational. The watch case measures 38mm wide, 40mm from lug to lug, and is 11mm thick. Lug width is 18mm.
