The Vintage Omega Soccer Timer. Cool and specific. The chronograph minute sub dial was marked with a 45-minute indicator below the “30” to make it easier to time soccer 45 min halves. This was created for the World Cup referees to time world cup hosted in Mexico in 1970. Omega produced three different references. 145.016, 145.019, and 145.020. The dial color was gray or white for all three references. The 145.019 with the rotating bezel and 2nd crown at 10:00 is the most desirable. The 145.019 came in a larger case with an external crown to control an internal rotating bezel. It had either a black, regatta, or roulette bezel. The Roulette is the most desirable. The regatta is rare and adds a bit of color over the standard black. Produced in 1971 – this 145.019 Omega Seamaster watch has the Caliber 861 which is also the heart of the famous Speedmaster moonwatch. This watch was paired from factory most often with the 1170 or 1171 bracelet with 653 end links. This particular watch was produced with the rotating regatta internal bezel. It has the correct 1170 bracelet with the factory correct 653 end links. I bought this watch from Bachmann & Scher out of Germany. When I was searching for this watch several years ago, the issue was finding a large enough original bracelet size. This fits my 7 5/8 or 193cm wrist. That was more difficult than you might think because few watches have extra links with them. I purchased this watch to wear during my daughter’s soccer games. I think it might be the coolest watch I have ever owned. Her time playing on the pitch has ended, so I’m passing it on to another parent or collector.
