Any Genta design is a winning recipe, and this Universal Genève White Shadow is no exception. At the time, it was one of the thinnest automatic watches money could buy, with an impressive thickness of 6.8 mm. Some of you might be wondering – wait, that case looks different from most UG White Shadows. And you’d be right. This is reference 867103, a rarer model with a more angular and flatter stainless steel case. Wears a lot better, to be honest. According to the serial number, the watch was produced in the early-mid 1970s. It’s powered by the legendary caliber 2-67 micro-rotor, with 25 jewels and a beat rate of 19,800. The signed case, crown, and caseback are all original. The movement was recently oiled by my watchmaker. However, he told me the watch needs a “square rocket” (not sure if that’s the correct translation, as English isn’t my first language). As such, it feels a little rough when setting the time. Everything else is working perfectly. A good watchmaker with a decent assortment of parts should have it. For that reason, I’m pricing this piece at a modest 850$.
