Here we have for sale a beautiful white gold 1803 Rolex Day-Date (2,324,XXX serial, dating it to c. 1970) with a wonderfully patinated silver dial, in great condition. The dial has a warm, yellow-y (which is actually specs of brown under loupe, radiating from the centre) patina, that contrasts beautifully against the colder white colour of the date and day wheels, and the WG case. There is no visible damage on the dial (any scratches you might see are on the crystal) and all the original large-sized lume dots are present and have developed a wonderful yellow patina.
The case is in excellent condition, without any visible dings. Please see the pictures for details. Serial and ref numbers are clearly visible. The crown appears to be original, has developed a patina, and functions as it should. The lume in the hands match the lume plots on the dial very well. The fluted bezel is sharp ; please excuse my appalling macro photography – if a section looks blurred, please look at the same part on another photo, which may show it more true-to-life. Let me know if you’d like me to re-photograph any particular part. It comes as head-only, but will happily lob in the black Hirsch alligator strap.
I bought this from a well-known Bond St dealer circa 2yrs ago, at which point the watch had just been serviced. I know nothing more of the history but it currently runs just fine. Given the patination of the dial, the watch has a very 'warm' feel to it. The crown pops out well and screws down easily, the winder feels smooth, and the hands turn nicely when setting.
My price for this WG 1803 is GBP 8,500 via bank wire.
The watch is located in London, UK. Insured shipping at buyer's cost and risk (the buyer may choose method of shipping). I welcome a local in-person pick-up for buyers with solid references.
I can be reached at [email protected] for any further questions. I can supply worldwide references on request.
Return for full refund (minus shipping/insurance/customs charges) within 3 days if not original. The returned watch must be received in the same condition as when it was originally shipped. Any possible customs charges, such as import duties or taxes are always the responsibility of the buyer.
Many thanks to OF for the space.
