Made from German submarine steel that undergoes Sinn’s tegimented treatment, the base version of this watch is incredibly robust and scratch resistant. This one ups that scratch resistance by boasting a PVD coating on top of the already hardened steel. I purchased an OEM fully tegimented PVD bracelet to match from watchbuys, making this an incredibly robust ready-for-everything daily watch. The Sinn U50 needs no introduction. An instant cult classic due to its smaller size compared to its chunky U1 big brother, the U50 comes in a reduced size but does not compromise form or functionality to achieve it. This limited edition of 500 pieces, known as “The Black Pearl” is characterized by its black mother of pearl dial to match the black aesthetic. The indices are blacked out yet still retain lume (although it is rather weak compared to other divers). Speaking of divers, this watch is rated to an impressive 500m of water resistance. This is particularly impressive considering it measures a svelte 11.2mm thick. This thinness combined with the relatively short lug-to-lug makes this watch wear beautifully even on smaller wrists. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with it but am moving away from luxury watches and giving priority to other things in my life. This watch is very wear resistant. I don’t baby my watches and have dailied this watch for the month or so I’ve had it. In that span it has acquired some very minor marks on the clasp and a blemish on the sapphire crystal. I hadn’t noticed this until I went to take pictures. It hasn’t been noticeable during wear but since I’ve found it I figured I would highlight it in this listing as the only flaw on this otherwise like new watch. High brightness close up picture of the blemish is included in the album. I took timegrapher readings of the movement on arrival and it was keeping excellent time, well within spec. Timestamped timegrapher results can be included at buyers request. Watch includes the factory silicone strap which has been cut to fit a small wrist, about 6.3” wrist. Bracelet is fully linked and will fit wrists of all sizes. Original factory warranty just ran out in June but it includes an extra warranty through Topper (retailer) which expires in December of this year.
