Today I’m selling this very cool 1970’s Omega Seamaster Quartz ref 196.0090 with TV dial and integrated bracelet. These are one of my favourites from this period with a very strong design ethic featuring a heavily faceted case, glossy dial and integrated bracelet. The difficulty with these is finding one with a good dial and which still has a presentable case.

The high gloss anthracite dial is perfect and has raised and polished stick indices and contrasting white hours and minutes hands. It’s really amazing when it catches the light.

The 37mm steel case and bracelet are in very good shape, they do have some marks here and there but most importantly for this reference still retain the sharp bevelled finish.

The integrated steel bracelet 1257/220 is very comfortable on the wrist, with a very nice heft and no hair pulling tendencies! On the smallest setting it easily fits my 19cm wrist. It can be adjusted further.

The special unsigned crown for time and date setting is functioning perfectly. The mineral glass crystal is NOS and was replaced together with all the case gaskets in mid 2023.

Running a cal 1342 with a serial number in the 40 million range which ties in with around 1977 or so. The movement is running well and quick setting very smoothly with the with the special crown. I have not had the watch serviced in the few years of my ownership

Founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by 23-year-old Louis Brandt who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He travelled throughout Europe selling his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. After Louis Brandt's death in 1879, his two sons Louis-Paul and Cesar, troubled by irregular deliveries of questionable quality, abandoned the unsatisfactory assembly workshop system in favour of in-house manufacturing and total production control. Due to the greater supply of manpower, communications and energy in Bienne, the enterprise moved into a small factory in January 1880, then bought the entire building in December. Two years later the company moved into a converted spinning-factory in the Gurzelen district of Bienne, where headquarters are still situated today. Their first series-produced calibres, Labrador and Gurzelen, as well as, the famous Omega calibre of 1894, would ensure the brand's marketing success.
