1968 Omega Speedmaster Professional "Transitional", Nice Example $6300
I've gotten myself involved in a passion project with the budget already spiraling ::facepalm1::, so I've decided its time to part with a watch in my collection and continue on with the project to completion with no regrets. I'm offering up this little beauty, which I acquired many years ago here in Las Vegas from an older gentlemen, it was an honest watch that had some easily addressed minor "issues" (wrong crown, hesalite was a goner, and chrono hand was off), thankfully, I had a period correct crown, and I sent the watch to Adam Lewis over at Lewis Watch Co, and he did a marvelous job servicing and gently restoring the watch, as you can see in these pictures, some of the pics are from Adam during service. The dial was in fantastic condition, the case was quite good. That was in November 2020. It's sat in my watch box since that time, I've probably worn it once or twice in the last 4 years.
Pictures tell the story; ghost DoN bezel, movement in excellent original condition, new hesalite crystal, pushers and crown period correct, dial is in excellent condition (see pic), hands have a nice matching patina, the watch runs and operates perfectly; I would grade its condition somewhere between "good" and "very good" on William's chart. Case has probably seen some light polishing in the past, but all facets are pretty sharp, not soft at all, and no big dings anywhere, just the normal surface wear from an honest piece. I can provide additional hi-res pics upon request.
When I bought the watch, it came with a stretched 1039 bracelet with 516 endlinks in desperate need of a cleaning and restoration. After giving it several trips in the ultrasound, my plan was to restore the bracelet or send it off to Michael Young to have it done (I have a set of replacement 1039 springs), but, its just sat on my workbench ever since, one of dozens of TBD projects. I'd be willing to pass on this bracelet in its current condition, along with endlinks to the buyer for a very modest additional charge, which we can discuss privately. The watch is currently on a modern Forstner flat link, which I think looks, and wears, quite nice, and which will come with the watch of course.
I'm asking $6300 USD
I ship overnight fully insured anywhere in the USA upon receipt of funds. I can ship worldwide but would have to arrange that with the buyer for a modest additional cost. I have done many many watch sales, and purchases online on this forum, as well as rolexforums.com, and can provide ample references across many years of working with the larger watch community.
