One of the Rarest Omegas ever Produced .
In the moment only 8 Watches with this Factory fitted Swan Neck Movement are known Worldwide. The Omega Factory/Omega Museum in Biel has a few Movements kept as well. In total around 15 Prototype Railmaster Watches in 1955 were fitted with this Prototype Mvmt. And actually sold to Canada . The History of this Variant was buried deep in the Omega Archives . One of the best known Vintage Omega Collectors worldwide , Bill Sohne , uncovered and researched it with the Factory/Museum staff and Bill knows everything about these ! It is next to impossible to find one these days. Let alone in this outstanding and unmolested Condition . These Prototype Railmasters experimented with Cases, have no Back engravings, unsigned crowns, Heavy Duty Crystals , Long Tubes and the complete Amagnetic setup with Soft Iron Movement Cage, Inner Back with a spring piece and very thick Soft Iron Dials ( see one picture ). These Soft Iron parts were subject to Moisture degradation/Rust over time. Here all of them are Rust Free !! Which is very rare for a 70 Year old Toolwatch. There are 6 Watchmaker Service Marks as well. Unpolished. Everything Original Omega. Not relumed. Not serviced lately; therefore sold as is. Keeps very good time. I took quite a few Dial pictures under different Light conditions . Inside Flourite light. Outside in the sun. and everything in between to show the condition. Picture 13 is a first for me; it shows an Mobile Phone close up in the Sun ... The Whitish " Shadows " on parts of the dial is the slight flaking of the protective clear Varnish on top of the black. The paint is unblemished. The lume it intact as well; on Dial and Hands. The Crystal has not been polished here. Comes with Factory Excerpt of the Archives. When i found it many Years ago, word reached the Operators of the Swiss Auction house, that sold the Daytona from the best known Movie Star .... They wanted this here for Auction asap and guaranteed US$ 17,000 net . Which would translate into 30% Fees for the Auction House on Top of that .... No matter which price was realized. Before I go that road, I listed it on Chrono24 for US$ 15,000 . So far , only International Watch Dealers wanted to buy it ... I`d prefer an Omega Collector to be the new Guardian of this Ultra Rare piece of Swiss Watchmaking. One of 8 ( or even less now ) known Worldwide. Does not get rarer than this. If you are a serious Vintage Omega Collector ; that is for you.
