One out of 250 Emerald green dial bronze Zelos Swordfish with a gorgeous unique patina. This was a limited run which sold quickly and rarely pop up for sale on the secondary market. This watch is sporting the optional full bronze bracelet offered by Zelos as a $200 option. It's such a solid bracelet, they knocked it out of the park with the design as well. Keep reading for more info. About the watch: Bronze is an interesting material for watches. It's naturally harder than steel and resists scratches easier. It's also heavier and tends to oxidize over time. Bronze watches (and jewelry in general) have always had the issue of turning the user's skin green from prolonged exposure to the humidity and sweat. Zelos found a cool way to solve this issue. By making a caseback and the backs of the bracelet links out of stainless steel, you avoid a green wrist and can achieve a solid Bronze watch, one of only a few ever made. Some brands have experimented with bronze watches, but full a bronze watch and bracelet is quite rare. Naturally, bronze patinas over time. This is the name given to the process by which it changes color as it oxidizes and interacts with the environment. It isn't uncommon for people with bronze watches to "force" patina, where they induce extreme and rapid oxidization by exposing the watch to elements like the sulfur in hardboiled egg yolks to achieve a "pulled out of a sunken ship at the bottom of the ocean" look. Acidity is really good at cleaning this patina off. To reset an aged bronze watch to a brand new shine lemon juice, baking soda and an old toothbrush do wonders. I can easily reset this watch to its original shiny luster if the buyer were to request so. However, that would be a shame because of the truly unique patina this one has acquired as a result of a little experiment I tried with it. Imagine wearing a bronze watch in an environment where it would get occasionally sprinkled and splashed with an acidic solution. I wondered how that would affect the otherwise even patina and so I wore this watch to a busy Saturday night bar shift. Don't worry, it has been cleaned with dish soap, so there is no residue left on the watch. However the ghostly outlines of the stray drops of lime juice-laden cocktails left their unique mark on the aging of this watch.
