Hello fellow horologists, I trust this message finds you well and your prized possessions are counting away the minutes as beautifully as ever. I'm writing this post from a unique position - one where my passion for watches meets a bigger purpose. You might know me as a seasoned collector and regular contributor here, passionate about everything that involves hands, dials, and these cool little gizmos on our wrists. However, today, I'm not here to discuss the beauty of a tourbillon or debate about quartz versus mechanical. I'm here to ask for your support. As many of you know, the situation in Ukraine continues to be troubling and tumultuous. I have always believed that one should never be a mere spectator in the face of adversity, and I've decided it's time to bring this belief to life. I'm planning to volunteer in the Ukrainian war effort, to lend a hand in any way I can, be it providing logistical support or doing whatever they need. I have an organization I will be partnered with, and a friend is letting me stay with them. I just need to get my sorry butt to Poland from which I will take a bus into the west. For over a year I've donated money and volunteered remotely teaching English to Ukrainians. However, the calling is pulling me to go to Ukraine to give a physical effort as well. Those of you who know me are aware I have many close friends (near family at this point) in Ukraine who I've been close with for over a decade. I talk to them daily and hear the horrors of the war from first hand accounts, not distorted media narratives. The things they've shared with me are heart breaking and infuriating. I want to escalate my continued support for them and to do that I want to be there. However, to make this happen, I need to raise funds.
