For those still looking for the perfect late summer vintage combo I am offering for sale my rather uncommon Memosail regatta or sailing chronograph equipped with the manual-wound Valjoux 7737 calibre. This is the all stainless steel version (not to be mixed up with the more common yet inferior chromed ones) in its cushion shaped case and it comes in excellent overall condition.

Case and crystal: The all stainless steel case has a diameter of 37mm without and 40mm including the unsigned original crown and has never been polished (I bought the watch myself as new old stock), all edges are perfectly sharp, brushing patterns are original and clearly present and there is no dents whatsoever. There is only one tiny spot at the far end of the lower right lug where the surface appears a little rough but even there it’s not a dent but just superficial wear of the case's satin finish. Apart from that there is just a few micro scratches on the case, definitely nothing serious. The caseback shows a few superficial marks from opening, all imprints are perfectly visible. The acrylic crystal has been replaced some time ago and is perfectly clear.

Dial and hands: The glossy blue dial, the colourful regatta disc (yellow/red/white) as well as all hands are perfectly preserved, their colours are vivid (cf. especially the orange central second hand and the arrow at 12 o'clock that regularly are faded on those models). The luminous material is original and matching on dial and hands, one lume dot (at the "35" marker) has fallen off and its spot has been gently relumed. The luminous effect is still there after illumination albeit for a short time only (just as to be expected with old Tritium-stimulated lume).

Movement: The Valjoux 7737 movement is working flawlessly and keeping time accurately within vintage specs (the exact accuracy is a bit difficult to measure without a permanently running second hand but timekeeping is definitely within less than a minute per 24h), power reserve is as it should be. The chronograph works great when activated incl. reset to 12 o'clock. In particular, the regatta disc advances every 30 seconds, exactly at the full and half minute. The service history of the movement is not known to me.

Bracelet/straps/box: Currently, there is a massive and near-mint mesh bracelet mounted which is sufficient for a wrist circumference of approx. 19cm and matches the watch style nicely. In addition to that I am including two modern 20mm tropic straps in dark blue and orange colour and an unworn dark blue/orange/white nato strap that are all perfectly matching the dial colours. The watch comes in a handy travel box.

Price: Given the outstanding condition I am asking EUR 870,- for the entire package (watch head, steel bracelet, 2 modern tropic straps, nato strap, travel box), international insured shipping included.

Eventually, here come the pics:

The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.

Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. However, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).

More details on the entire model range of those 70s Memosails can be found on Mark’s and Henrik’s excellent sites:
http://www.regatta-yachttimers.com/brands/memosail/ and

Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!

Kind regards,
F.Antl
