The Navitimer features an 18 karat yellow gold capped stainless steel case, which is accented by an unidirectional slide rule bezel. The Breitling features a black “Big Eye'' dial with tritium hour markers, polished yellow gold tritium coated hands, and three oversized silver subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The tritium hour marks and hands are flawless and have acquired an even and vivid golden colored patina. The movement used in the 806 is the manual wind Venus Caliber 178, which is running and functioning flawlessly.

The Breitling’s untouched gold capped case is truly exceptional with little to no signs of previous wear. The crown side of the case has acquired a vivid oxidation on its yellow gold accents from spending years in a drawer. The yellow gold crown and pushers however do not contain any oxidation, and provide a nice contrast to the case oxidation.

The gold oxidation could easily be removed without a polish, but has been left as found. The dial has been preserved well with the only imperfection being some very minor deterioration around the edge of the lume. The “Big Eye” appears to have been seldomly worn by its original owner as all of the dial’s text and colored accents show no signs of fading, and are crisp and rich in color.

Overall the Breitling is in LNOS condition and is one of the nicest examples of a gold capped 806 “Big Eye” Naivitimer to come to market in recent years, and was purchased from its original owner.
