2003 heralded the biggest design shakeup for Rolex’s most famous model: The Submariner. Released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the line, the 16610LV or “Kermit” was, broadly speaking, identical to the standard black 16610 - aside from the new “Rolex green” bezel insert, from which it gained its nickname.

Lesser-known is the other design change, the introduction of the “maxi-dial” into the Submariner line for the first time, featuring larger markers and hands for better legibility.

This example dates from 2009, so very close to the end of its production cycle in 2010 making it one of the more modern example of the Kermit featuring changes such as the engraved repeating “ROLEX” & serial number on the rehaut.
