For sale today is an incredible conversion watch, also known as a "marriage watch". This means that the movement and dial originally came from a pocket watch, and were placed inside a wristwatch case. This is a Tiffany & Co. brand watch with a high-grade movement by Longines. Dial is sterling silver, with gold furniture. The beautiful and unusual hands are original to the watch. The original pocket watch was manufactured in 1919. Both the case and band are brand new, never worn, and in mint condition. The total watch thickness is only 9mm. A really nice size for an average man's wrist. Exhibition back to showcase the movement. Powered by a Swiss made Longines in-house 17.89M caliber movement, made for Tiffany & Co. In this case the "M" indicates that this is the thinner version of the movement, with the 17.89 version being slightly thicker. This is a 21-ruby movement with 5 adjustments. Very fancy! It also has a "snail" regulator, which is similar to the regulator of a Patek Philippe movement. This particular movement is very unusual in that it has a jeweled mainspring barrel. I have seen other examples of this caliber, and they didn't have this feature. In fact, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a jeweled mainspring barrel before this. A very luxurious feature! I believe this is the highest grade of movement made by Longines at the time.
