Good day all. Up for sale is a nice example of a 2005 Speedmaster Professional reference 3570.50 in very good used condition. I acquired this watch with the thought that I might wear it as my everyday Speedy to save some wear and tear on my vintage 1969 Speedmaster Professional Straight Writing, but knowing that I already own more watches than I can reasonably wear in rotation, I've decided to let this one go.

The Details

Omega Speedmaster Professional
Reference: 3570.50
Movement: Caliber 1861
Serial: 77050865
Year: 2005
Case: 42mm, stainless steel
Dial: Original black luminova
Bracelet: 1998/840 with dual button clasp

Condition

Dial, Bezel & Hands: The dial, bezel and hands are original and flawless as best I can tell. The luminova glows brightly and lasts throughout the night when properly charged.

Case: Original 42mm stainless steel case. The overall condition of the case is very good. I don't believe that it has been polished, but if it was, it was done with a light and careful hand as all of the case contours remain well defined. A close inspection of the case reveals several "flea bites" on the stainless steel rim underlyiing the bezel between the 11 and 12 markers. I've included a photo which makes them appear much more noticeable than they actually are (damn you, Apple, with your iPhone camera). There is no damage to the bezel and, if I had to guess, I would say that the watch probably contacted a door frame or a wall while being worn which resulted in the marks. A watchmaker could easily remove them, but they are so minor that I hardly think that it's worth doing. The case back is in very good condition and the hippocampus medallion is very sharp. There are some marks and a light scratch evident (probably from prior opening attempts), but nothing serious. The case back lettering is crisp and legible and the inlaid black paint is completely intact.

Crown and pushers: Original and correct.

Crystal: Original and correct with the etched Omega logo and no scratches, chips or cracks.

Movement: Original rhodium plated caliber 1861. The movement appears clean and in excellent condition and is currently running between +5 and +11 SPD depending upon position and has excellent power reserve. The watch winds up very smoothly and both the crown action and hand setting is very precise. All chronograph functions and subdial recorders work exactly as they should. The watch has not been serviced while in my possession and I do not have service records, but you are welcome to have the watch inspected by your watchmaker and I offer a liberal return policy as noted below.

Bracelet: Original and correct Omega OEM 1998 bracelet with dual push button clasp and 840 end links. The bracelet is in excellent condition with little wear and no stretch evident. I believe that it is full length and will fit up to an 8 inch wrist. There are some very minor wear marks on the clasp.

Accessories

This watch is close to a full kit and comes with the original black faux leather box (there is a small "dimple" in the vinyl on the box lid), pillow, cover, all manuals and paperwork, the hang tag, warranty card, leather wallet and even the protective plastic that was on the crystal (yes, really!). The only missing items are the original sales receipt and outer box (my apologies, but they weren't included when I purchased the watch).

About Me

I'm an avid collector of vintage Omega and I've got a soft spot for JLC as well. I've been a very active member of Omega Forums since 2018 and I'm one of the organizers of the annual Omega Forums Mid-Atlantic G2G (now going into its 4th year!). While I'm generally more of a buyer than a seller, my past buyers have been satisfied with our transactions:

I have also sold watches and watch related accessories on eBay under the username gbesq with 100% positive feedback for more than 20 years and I can provide references from my buyers on Chrono24 as well. I value my reputation and what you see on my listings is what you get. If you're unhappy for any reason, I'll make it right.

Payment, Shipping & Returns

I'm asking $3,900 for this watch which will include insured shipping to your location. Watchcharts.com lists this reference as having an average private party sale price of $4,167 and an average dealer sale price of $4,647 (these are the numbers as of yesterday). I don't inflate my asking prices and instead prefer to price my watches realistically from the start and give my buyers as much value as I can - hence the full kit and the included shipping and insurance. Payment is accepted via Zelle, Venmo, Wise, PayPal F&F, Revolut, bank wire transfer or cash in person at a mutually agreed upon secure location. I offer a 7 day inspection period beginning with the day after the watch is received. During that period you may initiate a return of the watch to me for any reason, no questions asked, by making the return request to me in writing. Upon my receipt of the watch, I will issue a full refund of the purchase price, less $150 for my shipping and insurance costs, provided that you return the watch to me in the same condition as I shipped it to you and you pay for the return shipping and insurance.

Photos

Here are the photos. If I've missed an angle that you would like to see or if you want a video, please PM me and I'll do my best to accomodate you. Please note that I generally don't include a photo of the movement or the inside of the case back as I don't like to risk damaging the case back, gasket, etc. by opening the case, but you are welcome to do so as part of your inspection upon receiving the watch. If you insist on a movement/inside case back photo, please PM me and I'll do my best. Thanks for looking and please feel free to contact me with any questions.
