This is a very nice example of an old Citizen Vintage flyback chrono!
So, let's start with the obvious. It is a vintage chrono. There are a lot of little, old parts. It runs very well for a vintage piece. But being over rambunctious operating the chrono or flyback function it is a one way ticket back to the watchmaker. Also, never take a vintage watch near water. And, always assume it will need a service soon since I do not know the service history.
Okay, now that we got that out of the way. I will say that this little chrono is pretty awesome. It runs pretty great, it has the 8110A automatic high beat movement. These are workhorses for vintage. The way this particular movement is designed (from what I have learned) is to keep the chronograph hand running since there is no running second counter on the watch. It loses maybe 10-15+ seconds a day when you are wearing it. And when it is fully wound the watch will hold a good 24hr reserve in my experience. It is handwindable, you can adjust the date with the crown pulled out in the first position, and also advance the DAY by clicking the right pusher when in the second position. There is no hacking on this movement.
As you can see, the bracelet IS NOT a reproduction. You can go on eBay and get the reproduction ones all day for about $50-$60. This bracelet is original and arguably the most expensive and desirable part of the watch. I took some detailed pictures of the bracelet, but notice the old fold over links, original clasp and the bracelet does have a lot of minor scratches and small dings and bends, as you would expect from an original bracelet. It has no extra links and is SNUG on my 7.25 in wrist. But this bracelet is VERY comfortable.
The dial. It's so nice I have to assume it is a reproduction. That doesn't mean it is, but I am just making that assumption since it is so clean.
The crystal is acrylic. That means it is not original. The original crystal is a flat mineral crystal which you can easily find. And some of you guys who love to tinker with these could swap out a crystal very easily if you wanted too. As you can see in the pictures, the acrylic crystal gives it some great vintage vibes. And you can polish it very easily with polywatch.
Yes, if you are looking for the "Brad Pitt Look" in Once upon a Time in Hollywood movie, you can have that too. I have included a picture of a bund strap I had custom made some years ago. It is not included in the sale since I paid way too much for it. But wanted to show you what it looks like on a bund strap too.
The watch is just over 38mm, 42 mm lug to lug (hooded lugs) and 18mm lug width.
$375 $300 via PayPal, Venmo or Zelle (PayPal fees and shipping USPS w/signature in CONUS INCLUDED!). If you are outside of the US just message me and I can give you a shipping rate.
I have purchased in recent years from WUS sellers, and I am trying to transition away from eBay (fees). I am “blaker333” on eBay too, you can message me there as well. I have 20+yrs of selling experience there with 100% positive feedback. I am sure I am not the only one trying to move away from eBay’s high fees.
I am open to trade ideas too as long as not quartz watches.
Thanks for the consideration and please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have.
