I am selling a NOMOS Tangente Einheitspreis, a limited edition model made in 2005 in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of German reunification.

The watch takes the NOMOS Tangente 101 as its basis, but features a special dial image and special case back engraving.

At 6:00 on the dial are the West German Ampelmännchen (crosswalk light man) and the East German Ampelmännchen (crosswalk light man). This is highly symbolic of German unity. At the time of reunification in 1990, East Germany and West Germany had different crosswalk lights, and the government of unified Germany started replacing the ones in East Germany. That was seen as an affront by East Germans, who were particularly attached to their little hat-wearing man, as opposed to West Germany's amorphous man, and they protested this change. In time, the East German Ampelmännchen became a symbol of eastern Germany and eastern German society, and the government stopped replacing the crosswalk lights and restored them. These days, the East German Ampelmännchen has cult status in Berlin and is an unofficial emblem of the city. Pairing up the West German Ampelmännchen and the East German Ampelmännchen represents the two countries and two societies coming together.

The case back is engraved "einheits|preis 2005 LIMITED EDITION"
