A really interesting midcentury vintage Eterna-matic, with a gilt dial, gold baton markers and seconds hand, dauphine hour and minute hands, a “UFO”-style case with a recessed crown and long bezeled lugs. Perhaps the most interesting part of the watch is that it was personalized, with the dial signed and the caseback engraved (I believe the owner may have been the high priest of a chapter of Royal Arch Masons in Waco, TX, but I’m not sure). Whoever did the dial signing did a fantastic job, as the script is super finely done and the script reminds me of early Rolex script. The gilt dial is fantastic as well, reading a glossy black in some lights and showing a deep green, gold and brown in other lights. The crystal has some light scratches and a rub mark that will come out with a bit of polywatch. The hands and batons are really interesting and the case appears to be in honest unpolished condition, with sharp lugs and sides. I love the recessed crown on these Eternas (I have another one which I wear a little more often, hence why I’m parting with this despite its uniqueness). The automatic movement is running strong and comes on a caramel leather Welsbro strap. I should also add, I have a 7”-inch wrist and I wouldn’t let the smallish diameter of the watch scare you off—the lugs are long and it actually wears really well on the wrist.
