Looking holistically at the Pilots Mark line, I believe this to be the goldilocks reference blending all the beauty of past and current Pilot Marks, and the quintessential flieger. The XV fits incredibly well with a brushed 38mm case that suits the majority of wrists, and an 11mm thickness (9mm excluding crystal) that slides easily under the cuff. Underneath the sapphire crystal is the star of the show - a stunning black dial that follows the lineage set by the Mark XI. At 12:00 is the large luminous triangle, symmetrical luminous rectangles at 3/6/9/12, and baton hands (instead of the dressier alpha hands found in later references). Inside is IWC’s Cal. 37524, which is based on the venerable ETA 2824/A2 which according to what I’ve read has been heavily reworked by IWC unlike the later Selitta based movements. Some specs: * Case size: 38mm * Thickness: 11mm * Lug-to-lug: 47mm * Movement: Cal. 37524 * Lug width: 19mm * Crystal: sapphire Overall, the watch is in excellent condition, with wear and tear commensurate of its age (2002). There are marks at 12, 11, and 10, though hard to notice when wearing it, however I’ve captured it with a macro lens (see last photo). The watch was serviced in July of 2023 by the Japanese retailer where I purchased it from and comes with service papers, and original warranty card/booklet. It does not have the original box but will come with the pictured IWC service box, buckle, black strap, and an additional aftermarket buckle, with a beautiful horween tan strap sized for a 6.5 inch wrist .Located in Toronto Canada, and will ship anywhere in the world for $3700 USD.
