The Universal Genève 885103/02 with white panda dial, acquired the nickname ’Nina Rindt’ due to its association with the wife of the famous Formula One driver Jochen Rindt, Nina Rindt. Nina Rindt was not only Jochen Rindt's spouse but also renowned for her own sense of style and fashion. She was often seen wearing a Universal Genève watch with a contrasting panda dial. As a result, collectors and enthusiasts started referring to this specific Universal Genève watch as the "Nina Rindt" in her honour.

That said….the 885103/01 Reverse Panda dial is not known as a Nina Rindt but rather an Evil Nina, how did that come to be you ask?

The name "Evil Nina" refers to the evil twin reverse panda dial of the ‘Nina Rindt’ panda version. The reverse panda dial is a dark, mysterious, and somewhat sinister appearance of the traditional panda layout. These timepieces feature a black dial with contrasting white or silver hour markers and hands, giving them a highly noticeable and dramatic look. The bold, almost villainous aesthetic of these watches led collectors and enthusiasts to affectionately nickname them the "Evil Nina."

THE DETAILS

Case: 36 mm stainless steel case which shows signs of previous honest wear. No major distractions. We chose not to polish it in order to keep it as original as possible. It is possible that this watch has never been polished in the past as it retains the original lug characteristics.
Bezel: Original black tachymeter bezel which which is in attractive condition given its age. There are some blemishes, notably under the '130'. We all have bumps and bruises which adds to the charm of owning a vintage timepiece.
Dial/Hands: Original black dial which has turned a stunning tropical shade, it is absolutely stunning in hand. Hands are as attractive and original.
Movement: Manual winding Valijoux 72 movement. It has been serviced and currently running a +3 seconds per day. Please note the crown is not original.
Bracelet/Strap: Custom WristWatchMe leather band, this is a high quality leather which costs us approximately $100 per
Crystal: Original plastic crystal free from any major marks or scuffs.
Accessories: This watch comes watch only, it does not include box or papers.
