Neo vintage not only offers great value, mixing vintage charm with modern upgrades, but also the opportunity to find pieces that have been discontinued, like this Rolex Datejust Turn-o-Graph Thunderbird. I love anytime Rolex goes even a little outside their box and that’s the case here, basically combining the class of a Datejust with the functionality of a Submariner, adding the rotating bezel. This example is a reference 16264 from 1997, so tail end of the tritium dials, with that great solid 18k white gold bidirectional bezel, sapphire crystal, on oyster bracelet. Light wear throughout as expected given the age, including on the previously polished 36mm case and the white gold bezel, but all in presents beautifully on the wrist. Large bracelet, can fit up to app. 8 inches. Service history unknown but winding and setting very well, with timegrapher showing within COSC numbers at 4 seconds a day and an amplitude of 289.
