The Omega Speedmaster 145.022-69 "Straight Writing" is a special edition from 1970, created to honor the 1969 Moon landing. It features the iconic "Apollo XI" inscription on the case back, straight writing engraving, and a rare stepped dial with a painted Omega logo. Powered by the Calibre 861 movement, this model stands out for its historical significance, unique case back, and limited production period. I acquired this vintage Speedmaster from a reputable vintage watch dealer in upstate New York earlier this year. When I started my search, I wanted the watch to be a usable, well-preserved, and original example, which I believe this piece to be. It is an incredibly special watch, and I have received many compliments wearing it. It is in mechanically perfect condition, and I have not run into any functional issues under my short ownership. Unfortunately, I have other priorities in life that require selling this piece from my collection, and I hope to pass it on to another owner who can enjoy it more often. Written below is my best try and a description for this listing, although others may know more about it than I do: The 42mm stainless steel case is in very good condition, showing minimal signs of polishing. The lug edges are still sharp, and there are no chips, only normal hairline scratches from use. Notably, the “Straight Writing” engraving on the case back is still deep and legible (see pictures). The dial is the original matte black tritium, in good condition, with minimal staining, scratching, and damage. The dial itself is in good condition, with a decently uniform patina. The crystal has no scratches. Note that I do not know the movement service history. The serial number is 328**, and please note this will be watch only with a replacement leather travel case. Currently asking $5500 via bank wire or PayPal. I'm committed to finding the right buyer for this piece, so please reach out if you have an offer; the price is negotiable. I am located in New York City, however, free, insured shipping in CONUS and international shipping is available at cost. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions regarding the history behind this particular piece, or want to understand more - I will answer to the best of my abilities.
