For sale is a rare 1970s Jaeger-LeCoultre Master-Quartz. As some of you might know, JLC was part of the Centre Electronique Horloger (CEH), a consortium of Swiss watchmakers that helped develop the country’s first quartz movement – the Beta 21. Despite this, JLC turned to Girard Perregaux to equip its Master-Quartz watches. In fact, the first commercially-available quartz watch wasn’t the Beta 21. It was actually the Girard Perregaux series 350, developed in partnership with Motorola. These movements were the first with a frequency of 32,768 kHz, which is still the industry standard today. The Beta 21-based movement beat was several times slower, at 8,192 Hz. In practice, this resulted in higher precision and less power consumption. The watch itself is in excellent condition, with only a few minor scratches. It features a gorgeous blue sunburst dial that can range from a bright lavender color to deep blue, depending on the lightning. It comes with an 18mm Watch Garage leather strap. **Details & More** **Condition:** Very good. The case and crystal have very faint scratches, which I did my best to try and photograph. Please see the pictures for a better description. **Case Size:** 37.6 x 43.6 mm stainless steel case, with a thickness of 13.9 mm and a 19 mm lug width. **Movement:** Girard Perregaux Quartz Ref. 352 with a frequency of 32,768Hz. It has a mechanical quickset feature. **Other Information:** * Includes an 18mm tan leather strap that retails for 80$. **Price:** Asking $1,225 (€1,160). Add $80 for worldwide shipping via UPS or €35 for GLS shipping in Europe. Payment via bank wire or Wise preferred. Please add +6% for PayPal F&F payments due to currency conversion fees. Thanks! The price of this watch is an outlier for this particular model and not included in the distribution. It may be miscategorized, incorrectly priced, or extremely unique.
