Keeping good time. I have run the chrono portion and it runs but sometimes does not reset to zero. You can restore the 2nd hand to 12/zero by starting the chrono, stopping the chrono at 12/zero, and then pressing the reset button. The 2nd hand will remain at 12/zero. It will also usually reset after a subsequent run. However, it is not guaranteed or warranted. I am not the original owner. I have no knowledge regarding whether all parts are original or whether the watch may contain aftermarket parts. I assume it contains some aftermarket parts (the crystal is excellent so I assume it is a replacement). I have no knowledge of when/if it has ever been serviced. Comes with a bracelet and a leather strap. The bracelet is not original but is a newish aftermarket bracelet that is appropriate to the era. The watch strap is a nice heavy leather strap with cream colored contrast stitching and it will fit an 8 inch wrist. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
